Mulberry foliage constitutes the sole food for the silkworm, Bombyx mori L., and has supported the silk industry since time immemorial. This review examines colchicine-induced polyploidization as a route to superior triploid mulberry varieties with improved leaf yield and nutritive quality, and outlines strategies breeders can use to exploit the technique.

This review characterises the CatSper family of sperm-specific calcium channels, their role in sperm motility, and their association with non-syndromic male infertility and the deafness-infertility syndrome, and evaluates CatSper as a potential target for male contraception.

A field study at the Division of Fruit Science, SKUAST-Kashmir, Shalimar, evaluated sixteen phosphorus and potassium combinations on five-year-old Gala Mast apple on MM106. Application of 100 g phosphorus and 300 g potassium per tree proved most economical and effective in improving the nutrient status of soil, leaf and fruit.
